CREATING PERFORMANCE!

Today in the book I am reading I ran across the following thought:
“Home” is the place – physical or emotional – where we can discharge stress without being judged or shamed or told we just need to relax or forget about it. <…> Every culture has rules about how much of which kinds of emotion are appropriate in what circumstances. But our culture has constructed a social world where there is almost nowhere that we can connect with others while experiencing the full range of our emotional intensity”

And then I thought – what a lucky person I am, because I DO HAVE such a place!
Thank you all for being part of that experience (some already for the second time!)
Thank you Inka Charlotte, for creating this emotional “home” for us again. For your patience, for believing in us and understanding what we are and what we want sometimes better when we do ourselves.

It was not at all an easy-going process this time (for me), but I am absolutely happy with the outcome.

Possibly my biggest achievement in 2016! Thank you Inka Charlotte for all the knowledge shared, the amazing training and the patience in the past two years!

Honestly, thank you for your patience and for being such a warm and welcoming presence. I really enjoyed the course. You teach more than theatre, you bring out the best in people.

SCENE STUDIES

I just loved acting with you every Wednesday evening. And thank you Inka for digging the diamond in each one of us.

Yeah, and as I am from a mining area, I thank you for digging out the coal in me.

Inka! thank you so much for everything, you are a wonderful teacher, so thoughtful and open and professional and empathic…you are the reason why it all worked at the end…and to be part of this flow was something special for me…it was truly a great experience.

“Even though I didn’t know what was expected in terms of my acting skills or if the course was about acting at all, it has been a delight to discover that the guidance has been personalized at individual level. The course is an experience in itself, completely social, summing not only acting directions, but also personal growth and interpersonal interaction. I feel much richer, I have learned a lot about acting – myself alone and in connection to others – and also built a few strong friendships.”

“I just wanted to thank you once more for the course. It has been an
incredibly important and enjoyable growth experience. It was my first
theater course, it was a bit of a jump in the dark for me and I didn’t
know what to expect, but I’m very glad I did it.
I will be back! :)”

“…I was given the opportunity to:
– pursue an activity for which I am passionate about;
– explore comedy, or the risky business of attempting to make people laugh;
-improve or at least be made aware of shortcomings that might need improvement under the critical,
competent eye of just as passionate a professional;
– and have fun doing it!
But none the least I am truly grateful for having been able to share these great moments with such a wonderful group of people.”

“I just wanted to say thanks again for the last course, I enjoyed it and I learned lots. And when I watch a film / play now I find myself appreciating the actors in quite a different way.”

STAGE ENCOUNTERS

What a fantastic experience this course is. As an amateur writer and performer I came to the course with little, if any, idea about stage work but I was keen to learn and develop new skills and was not disappointed.
Inka Palm is an excellent and experienced instructor and facilitator and gave our group much constructive and enlightening direction. Everyone in the group noticeably improved each week and our stage presence and interactions benefited greatly.
This is a course to really enjoy and look forward to each week as different techniques and skills are introduced over the 8 week duration.
Great friendships were forged in an atmosphere of fun and creativity and regardless of where you want to take your own personal development I cannot recommend this course highly enough. When’s the next one? !!

I attended this  wonderful course last year. What we learned is much more than stage work. We learned about presence, being creative and expressive, and how to be here and now. That means reacting to our partner out of listening in the moment and not out of an idea in our mind. Saying “Yes” – to the moment. Always useful, no? very recommended. – merav gur arie, berlin

‘The acting courses I did with Inka were on one level what I expected them to be; creative and a lot of fun. But because she is such a gifted and experienced teacher, during the classes she also guided us away from staying only on the surface of a situation and began to show us the depths that acting can reach to. This was the element I hadn’t expected; the transformational nature of the work. For myself and other people on the course, I saw shifts in levels of shyness, hesitation, body-language, trust, connection, intuition, communication, confidence, and the wonderful quality of playfulness.  What I had always suspected about acting turned out to be true; it can cause real change.’                                                                                              Fionnuala Devlin, Songwriter

PLAYFUL COURSE IN THE DRAMATIC ARTS

“The playful course in the dramatic arts gave me a good overview about the basic tools for doing theatre. I liked the variation a lot – we did every time something new, something different – and that’s why I feel like I learned a lot during the course. I think also that the course was perfect for both beginners – like me – and people who already have experience in acting, and the international atmosphere at the course was wonderful!”

I started the course not knowing how great will be the effect on my daily life and how much happiness and joy it will provoke. After every lesson was over, I was sorry that I have to wait for a full week till the next one… Part of my profession is to lecture in-front of an audience, and also there I could notice the difference; I was more creative and free and my humour was awaken. The course was taught and led by Inka in the most pleasant and respectful way, so each one of the participants would enlarge his attention and cross his borders, to discover his playfulness. Every lesson was a new discovery; of our body and movement, our voice, our creative mind, how can we communicate with and without words with our partners and more.
I can deeply recommend to everyone that wants to find new ways of expression and stay young!

Playful course in the dramatic arts with Inka has been one of the greatest experiences in my life. I had only brief experience of acting and yet I felt myself very comfortable in the group and overall it was a great introduction to the stage. We had the joy playing, improvising, acting, using our voices in different ways, creating moves that we haven’t created before. Also I found the course as a great self-development experience where you forgot about the world while playing with others. Just try it once, you will not want to give up again:)

“I most enjoyed the development of each lesson. How we would follow on from previous tasks. which encouraged a sense of progression and confidence that ultimately made it more relaxed and fun. I also liked the focus away from dialogue.”

“Super experience, theater for all the senses,
expert playful moderation, lets do it again!”

Feedback for Various Courses

Dear Inka,

today I’ve done my first class of theater here in Florence and my heart and mind flew to you, your energy, your passion, your words.

In three years you have given me so much – not explainble in words, maybe just by a gaze and a hug – and I want to let you know.

(…) our meetings were the really (…)  good thing I had there, keeping me alive. This I will never forget.

I hope to see you soon,

Big big hug Inka,

hey Inka

did I ever tell you how much of an inspiration you are to me? as an artist and as a person…as both really, you are a tremenuous inspiration and have been since I met you. LOVE!
